Dear Mayor Lurie and Supervisor Fielder: I am alarmed that the City, MEDA and Mission Housing have decided to site permanent supportive housing for the most challenging addiction and psych cases as Phase I of 1979 Mission affordable housing as this is not appropriate next door to Marshall Elementary School. The City communicates to Marshall students in no uncertain terms that they are not important when the City continues to concentrate what other neighborhoods would never tolerate around their school. A more just Phase I for the Marshall community would be affordable housing for homeless families next to an elementary school where homeless, low income and immigrant families, families of color, are overrepresented. Please work with Mission Housing and MEDA to bring affordable housing for homeless families to Phase I of 1979 Mission. The Marshall neighborhood already bears more than its fair share of the City's burdens.
